One day the paint will surely rise

Down 032
(Watercolour on paper, 18 x 12 inches)

Stewart's "drips" (as he refers to them) are supposedly painted with the genuine belief that there is no particular reason for the paint to fall downwards. According to the artist, "no one, even scientists, can prove that gravity is an irrefutable fact of the universe, they can only provide suggestive evidence. I have decided to start gathering my own evidence and see what happens."

Doing one a day, he uses a variety of supports and paint types, so that beyond conceptual implications the aesthetic quality of these works cannot be denied.
